Owners:
Elissa & Justin
Justin and Elissa both grew up in Colorado, and have been active in the Summit County community for several years. This couple shares decades of experience in both the corporate world and public service. As avid coffee and beer enthusiasts, Justin and Elissa agreed that there was an unfilled niche for handcrafted coffee and beer, and decided to create two beautiful mountain spaces in Keystone to cultivate and share these two delightful beverages with the community. As chief operator of Steep, most days you will find Justin sharing his knowledge of craft coffee roasting at our gateway location, or talking craft beer with patrons at our new location in River run Village. On days off, you will find these two fly-fishing on the river, Trekking into the backcountry, or shredding the powder! Cheers!!
HEAD BREWER:
Levi
Levi is a Colorado native, born and raised in Denver. After spending the last 5 years brewing beer in Denver’s competitive brewing industry, he made the move to summit county in summer 2021 to join the team at Steep.
levi enjoys hiking, climbing, camping and snowboarding. He played baseball in college and looks forward to playing on Steep’s softball team. levi is a lover of all beers, but tends towards drinking classic styles whenever he can find them.
Brewer:
Mike
Mike came to Colorado for a year and 25 years later, he is still here. He is a professional snowboard bum and a hardcore river rat. Mike aspires to be a Baja off-road racer but is settling as the world's worst fisherman for now. When he isn't out and about, you'll find him playing video games. Mike has been at Steep since we opened in 2020, starting as our bar manager and transitioning in 2021 to become one of our esteemed brewers of fine craft beer. His favorite drink is, well, all of them!! he will also be heading up our olympic gelande quaffing team. If you have a question about one of our brews on tap or our craft cocktail list, Mike is our craft beverage connoisseur & will guide you along your journey!
General Manager:
SCOTT
The newest member of our management team,
Scott is Also the reigning Steep bags tournament champion. He grew up in Wisconsin, and 15 years ago scott decided to trade in the grey Midwest winters for Colorado’s sunshine.
Scott manages both our Gateway & River run locations. When he isn’t behind the bar at Steep you can find him outside, enjoying all there is to do in the mountains. After spending decades in the corporate world, Scott is looking forward to pouring you some craft drinks and getting to know the Steep community!
Gateway Manager:
Jason
Jay spent 15 years running an investigations firm on the west coast. He Took a hiatus in 2020 and moved to Maui for 2 years, Worked for STEEP River Run during 2022-23 season, and is excited to be managing the STEEP gateway location. Jay Loves to play golf, ski, and hike/swim with my #1 P.I.C. Bernie 🐾

Matt Died Tragically Rescuing His Family from the Wreckage of a Destroyed Sinking Battleship. But came back to life just in time to manage RR and lead the team to victory every season!
sAles & Marketing Manager:
Laura Brewer
AS Much as laura loved her home state of michigan, she quickly left to explore europe and the rest of the united states after graduating from the university of toledo. she's lived in hawaii, wyoming, and soon found herself in the mountains of colorado! She's been in the service/hospitality industry for 12 years and has specialized in working for small businesses in sales, marketing, and customer service.
Laura loves drinking beer, backpacking, and snowboarding with her husband and two dogs.

Kyle
Kyle was born in Toronto, Canada and grew up just outside Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, Kyle moved to Summit County in October of 2020 to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a professional ski bum. After a couple years in the rental/retail industry, Kyle decided it was time to return to his roots in the bar/restaurant industry, and joined our team in February of 2023. With over 9 years of restaurant experience and a passion for beer and bartending, Kyle immediately made a great addition to our team. Whenever Kyle isn’t behind the bar you can usually find him on the ski slopes, or hiking the beautiful trails of our area and playing disc golf over the summer.
BAR Manager:
BEN
ben started bartending at steep during our first winter of 2020-21, & was quickly promoted to become our bar manager. We are proud to say that Ben also joined the keystone ski patrol team this season!
Relatively new to Colorado, ben grew up in the suburbs of chicago & went to school in the southern states. Now ben spends every free minute on the mountain, followed up by good beer & surrounded by good friends here at steep.
Social Media goddess
AKA Calista the barista
Having recently lived in Maui and England, Callie has decided to give the mountain life a go! Callie loves all things coffee and has been a barista for about 10 years now. being passionate about making good coffee, she is stoked to be part of bringing the craft coffee scene to summit county. when she's not by the espresso machine, you will likely find her roaming around with her camera snapping photos around both locations saying "hold this beer, it is a great pic," she loves photography and being creative. lastly, you will likely hear her quote New girl, hot rod, or spongebob at least 3 times a day belting out her favorites 80s music hits, and sipping on a flat white.
